New business for marketing agencies in 2021

This year has been better than last year for marketing agencies, with most finding more new business opportunities in 2021 compared to 2020, according to recent studies from RSW / US.

The annual report was based on data from a survey conducted in September and October 2021 among 120 executives working for marketing, advertising and PR agencies.

About 51% of marketing agency executives say the number of new business opportunities has increased compared to last year, and 37% say it has remained unchanged. Only 12% of marketing agency executives say the number of new business opportunities has dropped compared to last year.

About 38% of marketing agency executives say it has been easier to get new business in 2021 compared to last year, and 35% say it has remained unchanged.

By 2020, more than two-thirds (67%) of marketing agency executives said it had become more difficult to get new business compared to the year before.

Marketing agency managers say that the most effective tools / approaches to creating new business over the past year have been getting business from existing customers and referrals.
